Privacy Policy
Last updated June 2026
This Privacy Policy ("Policy") explains how Treyni LLC, a New York limited liability company ("Treyni," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards personal information in connection with the website located at rajbhatia.com and its associated pages, newsletters, and features (collectively, the "Site"). This Policy is incorporated into and forms part of our Terms of Use. By using the Site or subscribing to On Building, you acknowledge the practices described in this Policy.
1. Scope
This is a personal website operated by Treyni. We have designed the Site to collect as little personal information as reasonably possible. We do not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 where a higher age applies), and the Site is not directed to children.
2. Information we collect
We collect only the following categories of personal information:
- Subscription information. The email address you provide when you subscribe to On Building, together with the date of subscription and the source of the sign-up.
- Correspondence. Any information you choose to include when you contact us directly, such as your name, email address, and the contents of your message.
- Limited technical data. Standard, non-identifying technical information that our hosting and email-delivery providers may process to operate and secure the Site (such as delivery status and aggregate, non-identifying usage signals).
You provide subscription information only by voluntarily submitting it through the Site; we do not purchase, rent, or otherwise acquire email lists from third parties. We do not sell personal information, and we do not engage in cross-context behavioral advertising.
3. How and why we use information
We use a subscribed email address solely to send occasional essays and notes, to confirm your subscription, and to honor your preferences (including unsubscribe requests). We use correspondence to respond to your inquiries. We process limited technical data to operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site and to comply with law. Where the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, or comparable laws apply, our lawful basis for sending subscription emails is your consent, given when you submit your email address, which you may withdraw at any time; we also rely, as applicable, on our legitimate interests in operating a personal website and on compliance with legal obligations.
4. How we share information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing. We disclose information only to service providers who process it on our behalf and under contractual confidentiality obligations — in particular, our email-delivery provider, Resend, and our website host — and only as necessary to operate the Site. We may also disclose information where required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, to protect the rights, property, or safety of any person, or in connection with a corporate transaction such as a merger or transfer of assets.
5. Use of artificial intelligence
We use artificial intelligence ("AI") tools only to a very limited extent. We do not use your personal information to train, fine-tune, or develop any AI or machine-learning model, and we do not provide your email address or correspondence to any third party for that purpose. Where AI tools assist with drafting or editing Site content, that content is subject to human review; AI-assisted content is provided without warranty of accuracy and should not be relied upon as advice.
6. Data retention
We retain subscription information for as long as your subscription remains active and for a reasonable period thereafter to honor unsubscribe and suppression obligations. We retain correspondence for as long as necessary to address your inquiry and to maintain ordinary business records. We delete or de-identify personal information when it is no longer needed for the purposes described in this Policy, unless a longer retention period is required by law.
7. Security
We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your rights and choices
You may unsubscribe from emails at any time using the link in any email or the unsubscribe page. Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal information, to object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these rights, email raj@rajbhatia.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law and will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. Where the GDPR, UK GDPR, or comparable laws apply, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection supervisory authority.
9. International users
The Site is operated from the United States. If you access the Site from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above, and your continued use of the Site after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
11. Contact
Treyni LLC is the controller responsible for your personal information. Questions or requests regarding this Policy may be directed to raj@rajbhatia.com.
